A LOVE STORY ABOUT CUFFS
I have always been drawn to textiles, especially vintage, and whenever I attended an antique show or flea market I would find myself lingering in the booths that displayed charming old fabric, worn lace, unique buttons and trims of any kind. I inevitably left those shows with purchases that would wind up stashed away on my shelves at home. I became an insatiable collector.
In addition to my vintage fabric fetish, I have always been somewhat obsessed with finding ways to add unique and personal touches to my wardrobe without going broke. After years of accumulating basic tees, shirts and jackets, I found myself bored – and unwilling to spend a fortune on the season’s newest looks as a cure.
One day, I was wearing a ruffled blouse under a jacket, and the ruffle on the cuff of the blouse peeked out delightfully under my sleeve. The next time I wore the jacket with a different blouse, minus the ruffled cuff, my outfit didn’t have the same "pop". I took a risk and cut off the ruffled edge of the sleeve and used it as an accessory again and again, tucking it under my jackets and sweaters and every time I wore this "makeshift" cuff, people commented. I was convinced by everyone's reaction that I had a hit on my hands (or wrists!)...and the Cuff Luv Cuff was born!
Now I am more than a collector. I am a designer and was recently named one of Chicago's Top Emerging Designers of 2006. I am able to draw upon my business experience in sales and marketing to use all those beautiful fabrics and trims to create new fashion accessories. I hope you will try a pair and see for your self how much style they will add to your look!
I have named each item after those that have helped me and am grateful for everyone's tireless efforts along the way!
*Cuff luv cuffs are patent pending and proudly made in my hometown of Chicago.
